[separator headline=”h3″ title=”Profile of Charles Piccuta”]
Charles “Chuck” Piccuta is the founding partner of the Piccuta Law Group, LLP and has practiced law for more than forty years. He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where he was a stand-out baseball pitcher and football player. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois on a full-ride athletic scholarship for football and graduated with highest honors with a major in Political Science. He then attended Northwestern University, School of Law in Chicago on an academic scholarship. He was a member of the prestigious Northwestern University Law Review and earned his law degree in 1972 graduating with honors.
After graduating from law school, Chuck made the decision to serve his country and proudly joined the U.S. Navy where he was commissioned as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. As an officer of JAG, Chuck tried many cases early in his career. He was trial counsel stationed at the Naval Legal Services Office located at Treasure Island, San Francisco, Naval Base. There Chuck represented the United States Government prosecuting service members accused of common law crimes and violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. After leaving the Navy, Chuck went into private practice specializing in matters related to securities, real estate, contract disputes and consumer fraud. During this time, Chuck repeatedly obtained favorable settlements and verdicts for his private clients.
In 1990 Chuck returned to public service and took a position at the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court where he worked as a research attorney in the civil law and motion department. Chuck was well-respected during his tenure with the Court and served as a full-time judge pro-tempore for five years. In that position, he presided over the civil law and motion calendar. Chuck wrote and issued several opinions which were later affirmed upon review by the California Court of Appeals. In 1995 Chuck was nominated by Governor Pete Wilson for appointment to an open judge seat on the Superior Court. Although working full-time for the Court, Chuck found time to work with his previous private practice law partner on several complex and high-stakes cases involving several millions of dollars.
Chuck retired from the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court in 2012 and decided to go back into private practice full time. He established the Piccuta Law Group, LLP shortly thereafter and continues to represent clients in both California state and federal courts. Chuck is also an active licensed California Real estate broker and business owner which gives him an in-depth understanding of legal issues related to business and real estate. Chuck prides himself in taking complex and challenging cases that other attorneys find too difficult and too time consuming. Chuck now applies his forty years of practical legal experience and inside knowledge of the California Superior Court system for the benefit of his clients.
In his free time, Chuck enjoys spending time with his wife, Jeena, who is an instructor at the Defense Language Institute located at the Presidio in Monterey, California. He also enjoys spending time with his daughter Naneeah, and his son Tony, who is also an attorney practicing in Arizona and California.

[testimonial author=”Sevan Z.”]I used Charles Piccuta for legal consultation and help with a business agreement and contract I entered into with a local City Parks and Recreation Department. The decision to use Charles was an easy one. He is a close personal friend and I know his character. He is trustworthy, hardworking and intelligent.
The matter he assisted me with did not involve a lawsuit or court case. Instead, it involved negotiating a contract with the City. Charles helped me with every aspect of the matter. He provided advice on negotiation strategy and interpreted the relevant City Code sections. He analyzed the contract offers presented by the City, drafted counter-offers and helped me prepare the final draft of the contract that was eventually agreed to. What was most valuable was his ability to foresee potential scenarios and how the contract as originally drafted by the City would affect me. In the end I was completely satisfied and glad I had an attorney’s expertise in drafting an agreement that will benefit me for several years to come.[/testimonial]
[testimonial author=”Tiffany T.”]I switched to the Piccuta Law Group after the firm representing me failed to file a lawsuit for my personal injury accident. My accident involved a high speed collision where my nine month old and nine year old son and daughter were in the car. The former firm was trying to get me to settle my case for an amount they claimed was a “great offer.” The insurance company’s offer barely offered anything to compensate my children and was less than I expected.
The former firm only met with me when they thought I was going to switch attorneys, barely discussed my case with me before that and never took a sworn statement from the other side. The former firm also told me that they didn’t think that we could claim damages for my children. It left me wondering why I hired an attorney to take 1/3 of my settlement if all they were going to do was collect my medical records and send them to the insurance company before settling. I could do that myself.
My experience with the attorneys from the Piccuta Law Group was completely different. I met with Charles Piccuta in person and he spent time discussing my case with me, going over the attorney agreement and explaining the legal process. He analyzed the strength and weaknesses of my case and we developed a plan to maximize my settlement. Within weeks he had filed and served a lawsuit, confirmed that the police were prosecuting the other driver for being on prescription medication at the time of the accident and advanced claims for emotional distress on behalf of my son.
The Piccuta Law Group is a professional law firm and the attorneys earn their money. This is not a “churn and burn” outfit. I couldn’t be more satisfied with my decision to use them and would recommend them to anyone with an injury case. [/testimonial]
